Well I’m in the process of doing a set of self portraits for the Guardian Camera Club monthly theme. I have taken hundreds of selfies over my time and for this I want to do something different. Something that catches the soul of who are am and what I’m about as a photographer. I thought when the theme was announced that this was going to be one of the easier monthly themes but its not as I find myself struggling to get six shots that flow with the theme. Think it may be time to get the violin out and see what I can come up with.
Thought I would post a few of the images I took inside the Olympic Stadium on Saturday night. It Hosted the BUCS VISA OUTDOOR ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS my first time at a Athletics Meeting and must say I was quite impressed.
Had a great half term with Erin this week, but like most good things they come to an end so I handed her back to her mum yesterday as I have to prep up for a small business course I’m on next week.
We had a good time we messed about with a couple of photo shoots, she went on an own a pony day at the Docklands riding School, and we went to Richmond park to see the Deer but alas we saw no deer and found out that they were culling them which upset Erin.
So here’s just a few shots we took during a half term ramblings.
This shot is pretty much out of the camera I used whats called clamshell lighting two shoot through umbrellas one high one low shooting up and down and my camera shooting between them.
This is the same shot which I edited in Photoshop and Topaz labs to give it a dreamy fill to it. I only got Topaz labs recently and like it a lot I can see me using it quite a bit.
Again from the same shoot with Erin we done some hair flicks. This part Erin enjoyed the most as she just couldn’t stop giggling. just a few local adjustments on this one.
This is a shot of Erin and her new favourite horse Dolly. She went for the Docklands Riding School own a pony day. Where the children learn how to look after a pony. They have to muck the stables out, brush the horses and they get to have fun too. Erin got first place in the obstacle course race, which she just can’t stop telling everyone about.
This shot is as we were leaving Richmond Park in the evening I threw up a flash on a stand about 45 degrees as Erin bounced on the limb of the tree. At this point she had forgotten all about the deer that we did not see and how the deer were being culled through the month.
Sorry been away for a bit and didn’t fancy posting. I was back home in Ireland for my Aunty Margaret funeral.
Since being back not done much photography so just started to get back doing a bit. Took a trip to Richmond Park for the Deer rut. Every where you went there were herds of photographers. The night before though the rut was mentioned on BBC’ Autumn Watch.
Well I managed to get some nice shots with my cheapo lens had to get in a bit close during the rutting which had my moving backwards a few times as they got a little to close.
Well Hope you like my shots.
Visited Richmond Park yesterday for the first time in my life, Had a couple of hours to spare in the afternoon so was close by. The London Flickr Meet up group has an outing planned here for October so I thought I check it out. It is a place I will visit quite regular from now on. I will love shooting early in the morning and late at night and perhaps do a 24 hr shoot here if I can.
Well here Just a few of the shots of the Deer that I got. The Park has both Red and Fallow Deer.
A bit early for the rutting season this was just a little play around between the two stags.
If you get a chance to visit the park do it is a massive 1000 hectares of open space the largest in London apparently. I would need a good moth here to get the best of it. for each season. I’m looking forward to getting acquainted with this space and the wildlife it contains
Didn’t have Erin this weekend and had no photo walks planned, So I was just having a mess around in Photoshop. Mainly was trying to come up with a new logo/watermark, then started messing around with making frames. I personally have never really liked frames on say Flickr or other sites always thought they distracted from the photograph, But I messed around seeing if I could make some frames like in the on one package and found it was quite easy to replicate their frames just with playing around, but still didn’t like them until I made a classic frame or what I would call classic contemporary which just comprises of a 50 px black border and an off white mount board frame of 200 px both with a shadow of 3 px on all edges. I saved it as an action and I think it shows of my B+W images quite nicely if I can I will throw up the action for people to use if they want but here’s a couple of examples.
If anyone would want the action drop me a line on the blog until I find out how to put it up for people to download. Or if you can tell me how to put it up for download let me know how.
